IS YOUR COMMUNITY STATION WORTH A 37 CENT STAMP?

Dear Friend:

KXCI was started, and has been made successful, through the hard work and contributions of many people like you who wanted a community radio station for Tucson. Unfortunately, that hard work is been subverted by the current Board of Directors. Presently, the KXCI Board allows for 14 of 20 seats to be self-appointed. The remaining six seats are elected. The deck is stacked. As the last KXCI Board President Rick Bacal proclaimed:. "Who is to say that the majority of the people who want change is the best use of the station for the community?"

Something has gone radically wrong at KXCI, and we need your assistance to fix it.

We are requesting your help in restoring a democratically-elected board by filling out the enclosed KXCI Democracy Initiative petition, placing a 37 cent stamp on the envelope, and mailing it to us as soon as possible. The bylaw changes that we are proposing can be found on the website listed at the top of this letter, or we can send you a copy by mail.

As a KXCI member you have the power to change the current stations bylaws with your vote. In order to hold an election to change the bylaws, it is required that we receive 10% of the membership signatures for the KXCI Democracy Initiative petition.

If you believe that our community radio should have an elected Board of Directors that is responsible to the community, we hope that you will support our efforts and sign our petition, and then vote for the proposed changes in the forthcoming election.
