In the past few months, many policy changes have taken place at your community radio station. The station's
current management and board of directors initiated most of these changes. They reflect goals that are not shared
by a large and growing segment of the volunteers at KXCI. Many of these changes have created what is perceived by the
volunteers as a hostile working environment, a lack of accountability by management and the board of directors, and
a clear movement away from direct community input into station policy-making.
In response to those changes, a
group of volunteer programmers and concerned members have come up with the following set of goals in order to address
these concerns:
1. Reestablish an environment at the management and board levels of KXCI that welcomes and provides
for meaningful community input.
2. Reestablish a positive, respectful, and professional work environment for all
KXCI volunteers and staff.
3. Create a means of accountability for management and the board of directors.
4.
Establish a non-profit management model that fosters financial success without sacrificing the above goals.
We
all share some aspect of these goals in common.
Of course, our ultimate goal is to make KXCI a better community radio station overall. Let's keep working towards that
by continuing to foster respectful and open dialogue on this public forum.
